Two days after participating in his first candidate forum – one which his opponent declined to attend – Congressman Andy Barr has called on his opponent to accept a televised debate on WKYT, along with other district-wide community forums being held in the coming weeks across the Sixth Congressional District.
To date, Congressman Barr has accepted invitations to participate in at least seven debates and forums, including televised debates with WKYT and KET. The next community forum is scheduled for Tuesday evening in Frankfort.
“My constituents deserve to hear not just from me, but from my opponent – and only me and my opponent – on the same stage at the same time about the issues that are important to them – issues like the economy, abortion, the opioid crisis, health care and border security,” said Congressman Barr. “I have committed to at least seven debates and forums, because my constituents need to hear firsthand the enormous differences between me and my opponent. Instead of participating in debates in Kentucky, Amy McGrath prefers to spend time with her donors in California, Massachusetts and New York. Why is Amy McGrath afraid to debate – in person – the issues important to Kentuckians?”
