The National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) announced their endorsement of Congressman Andy Barr for his re-election campaign.
The NAHB strives to protect the American Dream of housing opportunities for all while working to achieve professional success for its members who build communities, create jobs and strengthen the economy, according to its website.
“Rep. Barr knows that housing is critical to a strong and prosperous nation and has worked tirelessly to champion policies to keep housing a national priority and to advance the housing recovery,” NAHB Randy Noel, a custom home builder from LaPlace, La., said in a release announcing their endorsement. “We are proud to endorse Rep. Barr for re-election because he supports policies to remove needless regulatory barriers that will allow home builders to provide more safe and affordable housing for hard-working American families,” said Noel.
Housing is important to local, state and national economies and accounts for about 15 percent of the nation’s Gross Domestic Product, according to the NABH.
In the release, NAHB notes that in this critical election year, they believe that it is important to elect pro-housing, pro-business candidates to Congress in order to ensure that the housing and economic recovery continues to move forward.
“I am honored to be endorsed by the National Association of Home Builders,” said Congressman Barr. “Throughout my service in Congress, I have advocated for policies that promote housing and homeownership such as relief from burdensome regulations that unnecessarily increase the cost of housing with little to no material benefit. In addition, I have supported improvements to the National Flood Insurance Program, to protect taxpayers and ensure the program’s sustainability, while continuing to provide affordable insurance to property owners, renters and businesses. A reformed NFIP would better prevent repetitive losses while continuing to encourage communities to adopt and enforce floodplain management regulations. Finally, our Tax Cuts and Jobs Act has put money back into the pockets of Kentuckians, helping them to achieve and preserve the American dream of homeownership. I will continue to support these policies and others that help Kentuckians and our communities grow and prosper. I sincerely appreciate the work of the National Home Builders Association, and their support. I look forward to continuing to work with them in the future.”
